Get Involved

Ever fancied being on the stage? Any good at painting? Can you make tea? Are you a good organiser?

We need all these skills and more!

The Otford Players are a really fun, laid back group and we are always in need of more people join us in a variety of roles - some on the stage, some behind the scenes, some helping in other ways.  Here are some of the things you could get involved in:

Backstage and Set Construction,
Sets need to be built and transported, special effects need to be designed, created and operated,
scenery needs to be constructed and manipulated on stage as necessary, actors need to be kept
in check. Maybe you have an interest in DIY or just fancy being involved in a way that doesnt
put you in front of an audience! Either way, no particular talent or experience is necessary,
just a willingness to get stuck in.

Costumes and Props
We have a supply of our own costumes and props but we always need people who can source
or make extra items as needed and generally help to be in charge of this area during a production.

In the Dressing Room
Any good at hair and make-up? Making tea and coffee for the cast and crew? Like applauding
loudly and generally being encouraging?! All of those things are helpful!

Lighting & Sound
Do you know your capacitor from your diode or your woofer from your tweeter?
If you have any working knowledge of electricity, particularly in respect of lighting
or sound & music and would like to gain experience, we'd love to hear from you.
We have some experienced lighing and sound technicians who are always on the
look out for new, enthusiastic people wishing to work in this area.

Front of House 
If you are a "people person", front of house duties may be just up your street! From putting up
posters and flyers to being on hand to greet the audience as they arrive, man the bar and
generally being on hand to keep the audience happy, front of house roles are some of the
most important when putting on a production. After all, without a happy audience we would be stuffed!

Actors and actresses
As well as all the help off the stage, we also love to welcome new members on the stage.
So if you have a hankering to perform, have been involved in amateur drama for a long time
or have yet to "tred the boards" do get in touch. We especially need MEN! We have always
had a shortage of men in Otford Players and so we treasure the ones we do have!
Come on guys - join up, if only to paint a set or lug some heavy equipment.

With all the roles mentioned above and all the ones we've forgotten about, there is no need for you to have any previous experience. Just a willingness to get involved will do!
